Bell Tent Flooring · Woven Polypropylene

Wet boots in. Wipe it clean.

Poly flooring doesn't drink. Water runs off the weave instead of soaking into it, so the floor gets brushed down between guests and rolled away damp without rotting or holding a smell. If your tent comes down most weekends, this is the one.

CENTRE POLE PANEL A PANEL B OUTER DASH = TENT FOOTPRINT Full moon — both panels laid

Two half moons, one full floor

Every size ships as two matching half-moon panels. Laid together they meet at the centre pole and give you a complete circle of floor. Used singly, one panel covers the sleeping half and leaves the door side clear for boots and bags.

Panels are cut just inside the tent footprint so the groundsheet still zips and the wall can breathe. No trimming, no fixings — the weight of the mat holds it flat.

Why poly rather than coir

Coir looks the part on a pitch that stays up all summer. Poly is built for turnaround.

WaterproofSpills and wet boots sit on the surface. Mop it where it lies — nothing reaches the groundsheet underneath.
Won't rotPolypropylene holds no moisture, so packing away damp at the end of a wet weekend won't ruin it. (Be sure to get it out later to dry out)
Lighter to handleNoticeably lighter than the equivalent coir mat, which counts when one person is turning over several pitches in a morning.
Quick to cleanBrush, hose or mop. No dragging a heavy mat outside to beat the dust out of it.
Protects your groundsheetTakes the wear from peg heads, chair legs and furniture instead of your PVC.
Two coloursGrey for a modern, hard-wearing look. Beige to sit quietly against natural canvas.

Poly, coir or carpet?

All three fit the same tents. The right one depends on how often the tent comes down, and who's walking on it. Your desired look and feel plays a part here.

Cleaning between guests

Three jobs, none of them long.

Between stays

Brush and lift

Sweep the surface, then lift each panel and shake the grit out. Dirt sits on top rather than sinking into the weave.

Spills

Mop it

Warm water and mild detergent. Nothing soaks through to the groundsheet, so you can clean the mat where it lies.

End of season

Hose and hang

Hose both sides, hang it over a fence for an hour, then roll. Store dry where you can — but a damp pack-away won't ruin it.

Important notice — stove safety Always keep a fireproof hearth mat between a wood burner and this flooring. Polypropylene will melt on contact with embers or a hot flue. Wood burners should only be used in a well-ventilated space with a working carbon monoxide alarm — carbon monoxide is a silent killer, and the correct set-up for a stove is outside the tent.

Before you order

Will it fit a tent that isn't one of ours?

Yes. Sizes follow standard bell tent diameters, so a 5m mat fits any 5m bell whatever the brand. If your tent has a zipped-in groundsheet with a deep bathtub edge, measure the flat floor area rather than the outside diameter, and size down if you fall between sizes.

Does it go over or under the groundsheet?

Over. The mat sits on top of the zipped-in groundsheet and protects it from peg heads, chair legs and furniture.

Can I buy a single half moon?

Each size is sold as a pair so the full circle matches. If you only want to cover the sleeping half, lay one panel and keep the second as a spare — handy when one comes off site for a proper wash.

Is it slippery?

The weave grips a groundsheet well. Laid straight onto wet grass with nothing underneath it can slide, so we don't recommend using it that way.

How should I store it?

Rolled rather than folded, which keeps creases out of the weave. It takes up considerably less room in the van than the same size in coir.

Buying for a site or a hire fleet?

We price by the pallet for glamping sites and event hire, and we'll ship mixed sizes on one consignment. Email help@belltentvillage.co.uk with your sizes and quantities.
